Master the Basic Sound System of English
Learning a language involves learning the four skills of that language: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. That is why these four skills are tested in IELTS, TOEFL and other similar tests internationally. In Kerala, children learn to read and write English at school, but they don't get the opportunity to practice its oral skills, for in their daily life, they use Malayalam, their native language, for oral communication. They occasionally get the opportunity to listen to English channels and movies, which is not sufficient to make them proficient in the oral skills.
